To visualize European activities and the state of research in the field of new information and communication technologies (ICT) at work, BAuA created the research map for “Ambient Intelligence” (AmI) and “Adaptive Work Assistance Systems” (AAS).

The field of new ICT in the workplace includes systems like head mounted displays, smart protective clothing, adaptive environmental controls or intelligent man-machine-interaction.
AmI subsumes research and development activities whose objective is to extend the living and working environment by including so-called intelligent functions. This is done by networking sensors, actuators and computer processors by means of telemetry so that well-being, health and efficiency in one’s working and personal life are supported and promoted by technology.
In work sciences AAS form the core of the ambient intelligence technology vision. This term refers to autonomous systems, that adapt unobtrusively and without traditional Human Computer Interaction (HCI)-devices to the needs and tasks of the user.

Being a governmental research institution this service is provided to all scientists and stakeholders involved in research and development, e.g. universities, private and public institutions, companies with own development departments and other experts who actively work in the research area of new ICT. Users can be persons in every working environment.

The research-map facilitates the planning and coordinating of research activities. Scientists and other interested people get the opportunity to present a research project or an institution as an active partner in this R&D field and let projects be easily accessible for interested users and potential cooperation partners. In the growing database more and more research projects, institutions and potential cooperation partners can be found and connected.
www.ami-map.de assists in identifying thematic blind spots within this research area.
Use the opportunity to propose your institution and your research map on the BAuA homepage!

The services associated with the research map are provided free of charge. All entries will be quality controlled before online publication.
Detailed terms of use and the evaluation criteria are accessible on the website.
