” It gives me great pleasure to be presenting to you the first issue of our newsletter “PEROSH in brief”. This newsletter is intended for all stakeholders with a keen interest in research and development in occupational safety and health (OSH). It will give you a brief update of the latest PEROSH developments and joint research. One of the main aims of PEROSH is to contribute to healthy, safe, innovative and sustainable workplaces, and to keeping people healthy and longer at work. As a contribution to the EU2020 Strategy for smart, inclusive and sustainable growth, PEROSH members have joined forces to produce a paper entitled “Sustainable workplaces of the future: Research challenges for OSH”.
This joint paper looks at the major challenges and research needs of the working world up to the year 2020. Identification of the research needs and expected outcomes is important to give appropriate responses to the current and emerging challenges in the working environment. This PEROSH report was also one of the key documents used to prepare the report “Priorities for occupational safety and health research in Europe: 2013 – 2020” published by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work. The Perosh members have actively contributed to the seminar “Moving towards 2020: Priorities for OSH research in Europe for the years 2013-2020” held on 9-10 October 2013 in Brussels. We hope that this seminar has increased the visibility and importance of coordinating OSH research and increasing funding. The PEROSH members will continue to proactively cooperate with the agency to further enhance European evidence-based research collaboration on OSH.”
