The European Pain Federation – EFIC has developed a set of freely accessible resources through Digi4MSK, a European Erasmus+ Alliance for Innovation project, which may be of direct relevance to your work on occupational health and safety.
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) remain among the most prevalent occupational health challenges in Europe, with significant consequences for workforce participation, productivity, and public health systems. One persistent barrier to better outcomes is the slow integration of current evidence into both professional practice and public understanding – estimated at an average of 17 years from research to application. The Digi4MSK project addresses this directly.
Two sets of resources are now freely available:
- For healthcare and OSH professionals – An online course (monthly editions, April to September 2026) grounded in a biopsychosocial framework, covering self-management, patient communication, and red flag identification; and a Book of Good Practices with 26 clinical vignettes bridging evidence and practice.
- For workers and the general public – A self-paced online course and a Practical Guide for People with Pain, both developed in plain language to support self-management and informed engagement with healthcare – directly relevant to workers managing MSK conditions in employment.
All resources are free of charge and available in English, Spanish, Danish, German, and Italian. They are developed on a biopsychosocial basis and designed to support evidence-informed approaches to musculoskeletal health at individual and workforce level.
