Belgian council presidency
The Belgian council presidency hosted a two-day high-level conference focused on mental health and work on 30-31 January this year. The conference provided a platform for experts and decision-makers to share insights on best practices and solutions related to the prevention and management of psychosocial risks, the impact of stress and burnout on the workforce. Moreover, innovative approaches were demonstrated to facilitate return-to-work for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. PEROSH contribution
PEROSH, the Partnership for European Research in Occupational Safety and Health, was among the attendees. Jan Michiel Meeuwsen, representing PEROSH, moderated a session on secondary prevention titled ‘Stay at Work’. The session featured notable speakers, including Caroline Dendoncker, who showcased positive outcomes from the pilot project ‘Burnout’ conducted by FEDRIS. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Salla Toppinen-Tanner, from FIOH (our Finnish PEROSH member), presented a burnout assessment tool utilized by employers and workers in Finland. Prof. Dr. Olivier Torres from the University of Montpellier introduced AMAROK, the first health observatory tailored for self-employed workers and entrepreneurs. Have a look at a great video where Olivier Torres is interviewed on AMAROK. All these initiatives were praised for their practicality and impressive results, with Prof. Dr. Jari Hakanen serving as the session’s rapporteur.
