The aim of the project is to use parallel measurements to clarify whether there are systematic deviations in the measured values due to different sampling systems and measurement strategies in different countries.
The three main reasons for this study were:
- different sampling systems and measurement strategies are used in different countries throughout the EU
- this results in different measurement results for the same exposure and correspondingly different derivations for exposures and exposure limits in different countries
- hence, it is not possible to ensure a similar and a high-level of health protection for workers and a level playing field across the Union, as demanded in DIRECTIVE (EU) 2017/2398. The exposure limits in aforementioned EU directive were partly based on measurement results measured with different sampling systems.
The long-term goal is to make exposure measurements with different sampling systems and strategies comparable across the European Union.
