Two researchers from the Central Institute for Labour Protection – National Research Institute (CIOP-PIB) took part in the 13th International Conference Working on Safety (WOS 2026), held in Cyprus from 15 to 18 September. Both received awards during the conference.
Agata Kmiecik was awarded second place in the WOS Young Scientist Award for her presentation, “Clothing with enhanced protection against ionising radiation – challenges and prospects”. The presentation focused on developing lightweight, lead-free clothing that protects against ionising radiation for workers whose exposure conditions may change. The presented approach combines protection of the most radiosensitive body areas with personal dosimetry and AI-supported prediction of safe working time. Klaudia Halicka received the WOS Most Communicative Post Award. The winning post drew a connection between Aphrodite, an ancient symbol of beauty, and today’s beauty industry, bringing attention to occupational safety and health in the sector.
The awards recognise the researchers’ work and highlight CIOP-PIB’s contribution to international discussions on occupational safety and health.
The conference brought together researchers and occupational safety and health professionals to discuss new approaches to workplace safety and health. This year’s programme focused on innovation, resilience and wellbeing.
