Industrial back support exoskeletons are transforming the way we tackle lumbar musculoskeletal strain. But how do we ensure these exoskeletons provide the best support? 🤔

Researchers have found that evaluating EMG data alone isn’t enough. We need additional kinematic and dynamic data to get the full picture. However, capturing this data is tricky because exoskeletons often block key anatomical reference points, especially on the pelvis. 🦴

The Study: A new method has been developed to reliably reconstruct these occluded pelvic markers. By testing movement data from six subjects wearing exoskeletons, researchers compared two approaches:

  1. EXO Method: Uses only exoskeleton markers.
  2. LUMB Method: Adds a technical marker in the lumbar region to account for any shifts between the exoskeleton and pelvis.

Key Findings:

  • The EXO Method had an average deviation of 54 mm from anatomical markers.
  • The LUMB Method significantly reduced deviations to just 14 mm.

This innovative approach ensures more accurate data, leading to better support and comfort for users. 🌟

Discover how this breakthrough can enhance the effectiveness of industrial exoskeletons and improve workplace safety! 📈
