The project “Training risks in Research & Development and production of new and advanced materials and nanomaterials: providing systematic approaches (Nano-AM OSH)” is promoted by PEROSH to develop guidances for harmonized training modules targeting workers involved in manufacturing, handling, and processing of nanomaterials and advanced materials (AM).
The Project is coordinated by INAIL (Italy) in cooperation with other PEROSH members Institutes such as INSST (Spain), NFA (Denmark), STAMI (Norway), and TNO (The Netherlands). The partnership includes other European organizations such as the Italian Industrial Association (AIRI – Italy), the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC – Belgium), the Nanotechnologies Industries Association (NIA), Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa (SNS Italy), Tyndall National Institute (Ireland) and the EU H2020 Gov4Nano Project Consortium (www.gov4nano.eu).
Based on a comparative analysis and the partners’ experience in the field, specific needs and practices for professional training on workers’ safety and health have been identified. Such issues have been refined and validated based on a broad stakeholder consultation, involving professionals from the PEROSH network and beyond. The consultation engaged 58 experts in one or more of the following fields: advanced materials, nanomaterials, training and education activities, risk management, occupational health and safety.
The new published document summarizes the results of this consultation providing indication on gaps and needs, themes and topics, target audiences, format, tools, and practices for training in the field of emerging risks related to nanomaterials and new advanced materials in the workplace.
