Background

The Futures 2 project seeks to update the PEROSH research priorities established by the original FUTURES project. Given the significant health, social, and economic changes in recent years, this review is essential. The project’s urgency is underscored by the impacts of events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and other global challenges on occupational safety and health (OSH) research priorities.

Objectives

  • Review and update the research priorities set by the FUTURES project.
  • Map and compare national OSH research strategies across PEROSH member countries.
  • Gather insights from PEROSH researchers and other stakeholders on current and future research priorities.

Target Groups

  • Policy Makers: To align national OSH strategies with updated research priorities.
  • Entrepreneurs: To adapt business practices to new OSH research findings.
  • Workers: To ensure their health and safety needs are addressed.
  • OSH Professionals: To integrate updated research into practice.

Deliverables

  • Presentations
  • Articles
  • Reports

Research Methods

The project will utilize desk analysis of national OSH strategies, a Delphi survey with PEROSH researchers, and consultations with relevant stakeholders. The methodology will be straightforward to ensure accessibility for non-research experts.

Scientific Relevance

This project is crucial for identifying changes in research priorities among PEROSH researchers. It addresses gaps and synchronizes national OSH strategies with researchers’ perspectives. The findings will facilitate new research initiatives and enhance collaborative efforts within the PEROSH network.

Practical and Societal Relevance

By considering recent health emergencies and other global challenges, the project aims to strengthen the capacity to secure funding for OSH research. It aligns with EU initiatives like the Resilience and Recovery Plan, the European Green Deal, and the REPower EU plan.

Communication and Dissemination

Results will be shared through a PEROSH factsheet, a comprehensive project report, and a scientific paper. The findings will be presented at PEROSH events and international congresses. Collaboration with stakeholders will ensure widespread dissemination and application of the project’s outcomes.

Project Management

Regular updates and meetings will ensure smooth project execution. Participation from other PEROSH members will include providing national OSH strategies, contributing to the Delphi survey, and supporting the dissemination of results.
