PEROSH is pleased to introduce ICARUS (Implementation of CArcinogen, Mutagen and Reprotoxic Directive in European Member States), a new collaborative research project led by INAIL (Italy). The project examines how EU Member States are implementing Directive (EU) 2022/431, which expanded worker protection legislation to include reprotoxic substances that may affect fertility and reproductive health.
Bringing together experts from Italy, Norway, Austria, Germany, France, Spain and Switzerland, ICARUS will map and compare national approaches, identify remaining gaps in worker protection, and assess issues such as exposure thresholds, medical surveillance protocols, and the management of hazardous medicinal products.
Through an international survey and comparative analysis, the project aims to support policymakers, employers and occupational safety and health professionals in developing more effective and harmonised approaches to managing risks associated with carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic substances in the workplace..
