As climate change drives temperatures higher across Europe, understanding its impact on workers’ health and safety is becoming increasingly important. PEROSH is pleased to launch TEMPO-RISK (TEMPerature and Occupational RISK), a new collaborative research project led by INAIL (Italy) that will investigate how exposure to extreme heat affects the risk of occupational injuries across Europe.
Bringing together experts from Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Finland, Austria, Germany, Spain and Greece, the project will analyse injury and temperature data to identify heat-related risk patterns across countries, sectors and job tasks. The findings will support evidence-based workplace prevention measures, public health interventions, and heat-warning systems designed to better protect workers.
By improving understanding of heat-related occupational risks, TEMPO-RISK will help policymakers, employers and OSH professionals develop targeted adaptation and mitigation strategies in response to a warming climate.
